Ford Focus

Blog / car-leasing-ford-focus

The Focus is the sweetest-handling car in its class. It’s well equipped, competitively priced and as practical as most rivals. Just 13 years after the launch of the first Focus, this new model offers the Mk1’s gotta-have-it appeal in a bodyshell slightly longer and wider but lower than the Mk2’s.

Add intelligent headlamp dipping, voice-activated controls, DAB radio, rain-sensing wipers and traffic-sign recognition and you’ve got a premium car’s equipment packed into a non-premium hatchback – although prices up to £25,095 reinforce the move from previous bargain basement offerings to premium product.

It also carries a bewildering battery of electronic kit, including lane-keeping assist that steers the car back on track along motorways, torque vectoring that brakes the inside front wheel and apportions engine torque in hard corners to aid stability and collision mitigation that brakes to help avoid low-speed shunts.

There are four interior trim styles, and two petrol and two diesel engines at launch. The turbodiesels are a 1.6-litre with 94 or 113bhp and a 2.0-litre developing 138 or 161bhp. All the petrol engines displace 1.6 litres, with 103 or 123bhp in naturally aspirated form, or 148 or 179bhp with a turbocharger.
