Ford Focus 1.0 Ecoboost

The new Ford Focus 1.0 Ecoboost is a small three-cylinder engine which will replace the 1.6-litre four cylinder engine that has been a constant with Ford since the launch of the Ford Focus back in 1998.
The 1.0 Ecoboost engine comes standard with a turbocharger which helps to produce 123bhp, the same as Fords most powerful 1.6 non-turbo but CO2 emissions and fuel economy are improved by over 20%.
Ford will also be offering a detuned version with 99bhp which will offer even more fuel economy.
By the end of 2012 the new engine will go into the C-Max, Grand C-Max and the new B-Max.
The performance is an equal match for the old 1.6 engine, as you would expect with less weight and equal power output. Ford’s engineers also claim that it is the quietest in the entire range.
With the 123bhp version coming standard with a six-speed gearbox. With the improved fuel consumption and reduced CO2 liabilty we believe Ford are onto a winner with this one.
